I haven't had the chance to visit your great bookstore in years--I haven't been out to Sag harbor in years--but I'm so glad to see that you're still going strong. You guys are super and I look forward to seeing Canio's in person again soon (now that I'm back in NYC).

It's a heroic feat to keep an indie bookstore going these days and I hope to support you in that soon.

Best,

Steven

Sounds like an awesome experience. His landscapes are so incredible. You can sort of tell he grew up around a lot of water because of the luminosity of his landscapes. Thanks for sharing!

Books are beacons of light in these dark days. For anyone looking for Holiday warmth, curl up and read to family & friends, either Capote's "A Christmas Memory," or Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales." Must readings for this time of year. Another recent classic to read is "Penny Parade" by Barbara Wersba. For a copy contact Canio's!

Hello Rudy,
Great to hear from you; and thanks for your interest in The Vanishing Landscapes (c) book. It's not yet a reality, but perhaps in the new year!

Anyway, please stop by when you next visit.

part II:

I am taking the liberty of quoting an excerpt from one of Roberts' last letters to me.

The date is April 6th, 1996:

".....I think writers help each other merely by encouraging each other and that's about all I have been able to do for you. It's not even a matter of "writers" --it's simply that artists of any sort whether it be in writing or painting or acting or playing music need to support each other. So any support I have given you has been a repayment to the artists who encouraged me when I was starting out, because they saw something in me that I see in you--talent, and, beyond that, sensibility. So we all owe this to each other. And I expect that you 'll do the same for younger artists when you get older...."

                                                    --Robert Long

I don t know if you want to post this, I thought it might interest you as I saw you have a scholarship fund in memory of Robert Long.

Nohra Barros is quite a fine artist in her own right. She has exhibited unique etchings and paintings both at Canio's Gallery and at the Nabi Gallery in New York as well as at other galleries on the East End. Her work is often inspired by her voracious reading and particularly the works of Jorge Luis Borges among other great Latin American writers.
